The Allahabad High Court conducts recruitment for Group C clerical posts, and a major component of the selection process is the typing test. Unlike the RO/ARO exams which require a 500-word typing test, the standard Group C posts involve a 300-word paragraph test.
Here are the official rules, speed benchmarks, and evaluation methods for this specific exam.
1. Speed Requirements and Words
Candidates must typically type in both English and Hindi:
- English Typing: A minimum speed of 30 Words Per Minute (WPM). You must type a passage of exactly 300 words in 10 minutes.
- Hindi Typing: A minimum speed of 25 Words Per Minute (WPM). You must type a passage of exactly 250 words in 10 minutes.
- Total Marks: The typing test carries a maximum of 50 marks (25 for English, 25 for Hindi).
- Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score a minimum of 10 marks out of 25 in each language to qualify.
2. Hindi Keyboard and Layout
- Hindi Font: Mangal Font is strictly used.
- Hindi Layout: Candidates are provided with the Inscript keyboard layout. Note: Remington Gail is generally not used for Allahabad High Court Group C, so practice specifically on Inscript.
3. Backspace and Marking Formula
- Backspace: Yes, backspace is allowed during the 10-minute test to correct any mistakes before you proceed.
- Deduction Scheme: For every mistake (wrong word, spelling error, missing word), 0.1 marks are deducted out of the 25 total marks.
- Formula:
Marks = 25 - (Mistakes x 0.1). - If you fail to type the complete 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi, you will heavily lose marks for all the un-typed words, usually resulting in disqualification.
