If you are applying for the Copyist or Typist position at the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the typing test is the most critical hurdle. Legal documentation requires flawless accuracy and blistering speed.
Here is a breakdown of the official rules and guidelines for this typing test.
1. The 45 WPM Rule
Unlike standard LDC posts that ask for 30 or 35 WPM, the AP High Court sets a very high bar:
- Target Speed: 45 Words Per Minute (WPM) in English.
- Duration: The test is conducted for 10 minutes.
- Total Words: You will be required to type at least 450 words correctly within the timeframe.
2. Backspace and Software Interface
- Backspace Permitted: Yes, you can use backspace. However, you cannot go back to previous lines once you have hit тАШEnterтАЩ (if line-by-line typing is enforced), though modern tests generally use a continuous paragraph box.
- Auto-Scroll: Do not rely on auto-scroll. Practice scrolling with your mouse while keeping your eyes on the screen to avoid losing your place in the text.
3. Accuracy is Key
- Error Tolerance: Accuracy must be maintained above 95%.
- Deductions: Any spelling mistake, omission of a word, or punctuation error will result in a penalty, reducing your net speed. If your net speed drops to 44.9 WPM, you will fail.
