BHU Junior Clerk Typing Test: Rules, Mangal Font, and KDPH


The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) conducts recruitment for the Junior Clerk position. To secure this job, candidates must pass a computer-based typing skill test after clearing the written examination.

The BHU typing test is strictly qualifying in nature. Here is a detailed breakdown of the rules and speed requirements.


1. Speed Requirements

BHU sets standard clerical speed requirements:

  • English Typing: Minimum 30 Words Per Minute (WPM).
  • Hindi Typing: Minimum 25 Words Per Minute (WPM).
  • Test Duration: Typically 10 minutes.

2. Keyboard Layout and Font Specifications

  • Hindi Font: Mangal Font is mandatory for the Hindi typing test.
  • Hindi Layout: Candidates are provided with the Remington Gail or Inscript keyboard layout. Practice on Remington Gail is highly recommended.
  • English Layout: Standard QWERTY layout.

3. Backspace and Interface Rules

  • Backspace: Backspace is enabled and can be used to correct typographical errors.
  • On-Screen Passage: You will read the passage from the computer screen and type it in the text box below. Ensure you scroll carefully if the text exceeds the visible window.
  • Evaluation: Your Net Speed will be calculated after deducting penalties for spelling errors, missing words, and punctuation mistakes.
